Comparing Christian Eriksen’s stats to Manchester United’s midfielders
Very few footballing people are as beloved as Christian Eriksen, and Manchester United have made an attempt to sign him on a free contract ahead of the 2022-23 season. His stats, when compared to Manchester United’s current midfielders, suggest he could have a significant impact.
As part of Manchester United’s summer rebuild, Christian Eriksen would be a brilliant rotation option for Erik ten Hag’s side ahead of what promises to be the most hectic start to the season in history due to the Qatar World Cup taking place in winter rather than the summer.
Eriksen would therefore offer an alternative to Fernandes, or even be able to fill in elsewhere as and when required.
The Danish creative midfielder got his start at Ajax, the side where Erik ten Hag proved himself as a world-class manager, and he could therefore align perfectly with Ten Hag’s tactical philosophy.
After collapsing on the pitch at Euro 2020, Eriksen’s recovery has been one of the stories of the footballing world and his impressive performances for Brentford in the second half of the 2021-2022 season mean that United are not the only big club in for him.
His former side Tottenham are reportedly after his signature again, while Brentford are also keen to have him stay with them.
But how would he fit in if he chooses Manchester United? Here are his stats as compared to United’s other midfielders in the Premier League last season, according to WhoScored.
