11 ridiculous Premier League stats from 2023-24 we can’t believe are true
The 2023-24 Premier League season is now in full swing and we’ve already been treated to plenty of drama as the first eight league matches have unfolded.
North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal currently lead the way at the top of the table with 20 points each. Both sides are yet to lose this season and look set to have a successful 23-24 campaign.
Of course, Manchester City aren’t far behind and they are still the overwhelming favourites to come out on top come May. Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to win their fourth successive title on the bounce which has never been achieved in Premier League history.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side are also in and around the conversation as they are just three points off the top spot at this stage. Given the competition at the top of the table, we should be in for a thrilling title race.
The likes of Aston Villa and Brighton also deserve some recognition for how they have started the season. Unai Emery and Roberto De Zerbi are some of the best managers working in the Premier League right now and long may it continue.
While plenty of sides have enjoyed eye-catching starts to the new season, others have struggled to live up to expectations. That’s certainly been the case for Chelsea and Manchester United so far.
Both sides are currently languishing in mid-table after enduring an inconsistent start. As Chelsea and United will no doubt be desperate to play in the Champions League next season, they’ve got a fair bit of catching up to do to get back in the conversation.
We’ve taken a closer look at the Premier League season so far and have picked out 11 ridiculous stats that we can’t believe are actually true.
– Everton have created more big chances and have had more shots than Man City have this season. Guardiola’s got nothing on Sean Dyche these days.
– The Toffees have also missed 21 big chances so far which is an average of 2.6 big chances missed per game. If they manage to keep up that record, they will have missed 99 big chances come the end of the season. Ouch.
– Mohamed Salah has been involved in nine of Liverpool’s goals so far with five goals and four assists. Since the Egyptian forward made his Liverpool debut in 2017 he has been involved in 41% of the Premier League goals the Reds have scored which is utterly bonkers.

– Both Arsenal and Tottenham are currently projected to finish the season with 95 points each based on their current points per game record. Now that would be some title race.
– Luton Town defender Alfie Doughty is creating an average of 3.96 chances per 90 which is more than any other Premier League player that has featured in more than five games.
– Bruno Fernandes has taken more shots from outside of the box (16) than any other player this season, but he has yet to score in any of those attempts.
– William Saliba has not been dribbled past in the opening eight games of the season. He’s also only committed two fouls so far.
– Takehiro Tomiyasu is among the 14 players to have been sent off this season. Since the start of the 2009-10 season, Arsenal have been shown more red cards (48) than any other Premier League side.
– Speaking of red cards, Liverpool became the first side to ever receive four red cards in their first seven games of a Premier League season.
– Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan has scored more goals per 90 (1.09) than Man City’s Erling Haaland has this season (1.01).
– Evan Ferguson is the youngest player to score a Premier League hat-trick since Michael Owen against Nottingham Forest back in October 1998.
