The 7 players Steven Gerrard wants to sign for Al-Ettifaq: Henderson, Coutinho…

The Saudi Pro League means business this summer as plenty of high-profile stars have already made the jump and signed highly lucrative deals.

Steven Gerrard is one of the high-profile managers to join the league and he is keen on bringing some superstars to Al-Ettifaq to bolster his squad.

We’ve gone through the latest transfer rumours and have collected the seven players Gerrard wants to sign for Al-Ettifaq this summer.

Wilfred Zaha

The 30-year-old is in high demand right now as he is available on a free transfer. Al-Ettifaq have held talks with Zaha, along with fellow Saudi clubs Al Ittihad and Al Nassr.

Mail Sport have reported that the former Crystal Palace star has held conversations with Gerrard regarding a potential move. Al-Ettifaq have offered Zaha a deal worth £16million per year, although the player’s representatives are reportedly asking for more.

Jordan Henderson

The man who inherited the captain’s armband from Gerrard at Liverpool is now being linked with a potential reunion. Henderson’s contract at Liverpool runs until 2025, although there has been plenty of speculation surrounding his future.

According to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi, Al-Ettifaq are keen on signing the Liverpool captain this summer. Henderson himself has not made a decision on his future, but you’d imagine he would be offered a handsome wage to make to move.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Following a subpar season at Stamford Bridge, Aubameyang has a move to Saudi written all over him. The Daily Mail have clarified Al-Ettifaq’s interest and a move could well be on the cards.

The likes of N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have already made the jump to Saudi from Chelsea and we wouldn’t be surprised to see Aubameyang join that list.

Philippe Coutinho

This one writes itself. Gerrard brought Coutinho to Villa Park after some tough years at Barcelona and while he did start out brightly, things tailed off last season.

The Brazilian playmaker has barely featured under Unai Emery and a move this summer could be on the cards according to The Express. He is under contract until 2026, but at the right price, Villa could cash in.

Alvaro Morata

The Spanish forward doesn’t usually stick around in one place for too long and according to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Gerrard is interested.

Morata often gets a tough time because of his disappointing spell with Chelsea, but 226 goals in 605 appearances across his entire career isn’t too shabby.

Sadio Mane

According to Tuttomercato, Gerrard likes the idea of signing Mane this summer. After a subpar season in Germany, his days at Bayern Munich now seem numbered.

Al-Ettifaq might find it tough to land a deal for the Senegalese winger though as Al Ahli are currently leading the race to sign him.

“Told Al Ahli are insisting in the last few days as they want to reunite Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane,” Fabrizio Romano reported earlier in the month.

Scott Wright

Perhaps not the biggest name, but Rangers winger Wright has also been linked with a move. The 25-year-old was signed by Gerrard at Rangers and he could swoop in for him once again.

Football Insider have claimed that the Saudi side have made a ‘concrete move’ for Wright, who featured in 34 games for Rangers last season.
